Asimov Memorial Limerick Contest
Rules and Regulations
The Isaac Asimov Memorial Limerick Contest is conducted by The SETI League, Inc., for purposes of promoting the scientific Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence.
One need not be a SETI League member to enter.
SETI League officials and past winners are encouraged to submit entries, but are ineligible for prizes.
Entries shall consist of a limerick in the classical form, dealing with some aspect of the Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence.
Submission via email was encouraged, but the contest is now over and no more entries will be accepted.
Entrants are asked to provide their full name and mailing address.
All submissions should be appropriate for general audiences.
Submissions will be evaluated for scansion, originality, and adherence to a SETI-related theme.
The contest runs for three years. It began at The SETI League's First Annual Membership Meeting in March 1995, and ends at 0000 hours UTC on 28 March 1998, just prior to the SETI League's
Fourth Annual Membership Meeting
Judging shall be done by a Committee appointed by the Trustees of The SETI League, Inc.
Decision of the judges is final.
Selected winning limericks will be awarded a coveted SETI League Pocket Protector. No contestant may be awarded more than one prize.
The judges may, at their discretion, declare Honorable Mentions, for which no prize is awarded.
Multiple submissions are encouraged.
All submissions become the property of The SETI League, Inc., and may be posted to its Web site, and published in its quarterly newsletter, SearchLites, with the author appropriately cited.
Entry constitutes permission for The SETI League to publish the name, city, state and country of winning entrants and Honorable Mentions.
Although it is not feasible to acknowledge all entries, winning entries will be acknowledged within thirty (30) days of receipt.
This contest may be terminated at any time without notice, by action of the Trustees of The SETI League, Inc.
All decisions of the Board of Trustees of The SETI League, Inc., with respect to interpretation of the rules presented herein or subsequently amended, shall be final.
These Rules and Regulations shall have the force and effect of Bylaws of The SETI League, Inc. They may be amended as necessary from time to time by the Board of Trustees. Amendments or revisions shall become effective as of 0001 UTC on the day following the date of their posting to the World Wide Web site of The SETI League, Inc.
