Little Ferry, NJ.., 10 January 2010 -- The SETI League, Inc., nonprofit leaders in the scientific Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence (SETI), today published its 2009 Annual Report, detailing the grass-roots organization's accomplishments during its fifteenth full year of operation. Despite the global economic recession, which has severely curtailed donations, the nonprofit organization managed to avoid a deficit for 2009, thanks to the generosity of several key supporters. Furthermore, the tireless volunteer efforts of its 1500 members in 62 countries allowed significant scientific progress to be made at marginal expenditure.

In addition to containing the organization's 2009 financial report and 2010 budget, this latest annual report, available for download from http://www.setileague.org/admin/report09.pdf, details The SETI League's program service accomplishments in the areas of Science, Technology, Public Education, and Media and Outreach. The report also includes The SETI League's Vision and Mission statements, comments from our Executive Director Emeritus, a Case for Support, acknowledgement of the organization's contributors, and an introduction of new members.

Largely using radio telescopes and optical telescopes, SETI scientists seek to determine whether humankind is alone in the universe. Since Congress terminated NASA's SETI funding in 1993, The SETI League and other scientific groups have privatized the research. Amateur and professional scientists interested in participating in the search for intelligent alien life, and citizens wishing to help support it, should email join_at_setileague_dot_org, check the SETI League Web site at http://www.setileague.org/, send a fax to +1 (201) 641-1771, or contact The SETI League, Inc. membership hotline at +1 (800) TAU-SETI. Be sure to provide us with a postal address to which we will mail further information. The SETI League, Inc. is a membership-supported, non-profit [501(c)(3)], educational and scientific corporation dedicated to the scientific Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence.

P.S. Tearsheets are always appreciated. Thank you.
