Treasurer Marty Schreiber, CPA, delivers the annual Financial Report. During the 1999 fiscal year, The SETI League received a most generous contribution from a charitable trust, which prevented us from incurring a deficit.

Not able to count on future Charitable Trust contributions, we resort to various fundraising tactics. Here our executive director auctions off one of only 20 bound, signed and numbered sets of SearchLites, Volumes 1-5 (all twenty issues of our quarterly newsletter published between 1995 and 1999). The winning bidder donated his prize to Advisory Committee member Sir Arthur C. Clarke, in appreciation of his service to The SETI League.

Our executive director attempts to contact Bruno Award winner Dr. Kingsley by cell phone, to inform and congratulate him. Paul succeeded only in reaching Stuart's answering maching, and had to email him the good news subsequent to the meeting.

As has become our custom, we ended the 2000 Annual Meeting with our executive director leading us in song. This year we sang "Extraterrestrial Relays," a musical tribute to Sir Arthur C. Clarke, father of the communications satellite.
